About Our Youth Ministry
Middle School Youth
Our ministry with and for youth begins in 6th grade, when students in this area typically begin middle school.
Our Middle School Youth Group engages our youth in grades 6-8 in activities, gatherings, and service projects. Due the pandemic, a regular schedule of meeting has been suspended until it is safe to be in person again.
Confirmation Ministry
Our Confirmation Ministry engages youth in growing deeper in faith as they seek to affirm their baptism and be confirmed. Students typically begin confirmation classes in the fall of their 7th grade year. Classes meet on Wednesday evenings from September thru early June for two program years. Students return in the fall of their third year for a few classes prior to confirmation on Reformation Sunday, which is the last Sunday in October. So students would typically be confirmed in the fall of 9th grade, transitioning them into the senior high youth group.
YPO (Young People’s Organization)
YPO is the youth group for senior high students, grades 9-12. This group meets for monthly activities, enjoys a yearly retreat to Tuscarora and supports various ministries of the church with service projects throughout the year.
Mission Trips
Mission Trips are also an important piece of our ministry with and for our youth. In the past, we have traveled to Broad Street Ministry in Philadelphia for a week long youth immersion experience and we have done a local mission experience supporting some of our ministry partners closer to home. We look forward to re-engaging in this type of ministry once the pandemic is behind us.
