About Pentecost
Pentecost is the season of the church year that lasts the longest – it begins with the celebration of the Day of Pentecost, the third major festival of the church year with Christmas and Easter and continues for months. Since the season of Pentecost stretches over the entire summer into the fall, the church has labeled it Ordinary Time and the color for this season is green. Green because it’s a season of growing – a season when the church focuses on how to be church in light of the Ascension of Jesus.
